About us
VLT shall be the safety net for the Valdres farmer – in everyday life, during illness and when it truly matters.
In farming, the work must be done every day
In farming, the work must be done every day – also when the farmer needs a holiday, gets sick, or something unexpected happens. That's when Valdres Landbrukstjenester SA (VLT) is here to help. We want to create security for the farmer, the family and the animals, and be a support when there is a need for us.
We provide holiday and leisure relief workers, illness relief workers and qualified emergency relief workers who can step in on short notice when the situation requires it. At the same time, we take care of the employer responsibilities, with pay, fees, contracts, insurance and follow-up of the employees. This way, both the farmer and the relief worker can feel safe and well taken care of.
Some of the most important work we do is being present when life doesn't go as planned. Every day we work to have a good emergency system and skilled, caring people ready if a farmer gets sick or ends up in an acute situation. For us, it's about stepping up when it really counts.
Farm relief is more than providing labour. It's about people, trust and closeness. We know farming in Valdres, listen to the needs of each farm, and work to make sure the barn is run well and the animals are well cared for. At the same time, our relief workers should meet orderly working conditions, good follow-up and a safe work environment.
We want to be close to both the farmer and the relief worker, and find good solutions together. With us, it should be easy to get in touch, whether you need help, have questions, or just want to talk about what we can contribute.
VLT shall be a close and reliable partner for the farmer and the relief worker – in everyday life, during illness and when it truly matters.

More than animal care
On a farm there is always something that needs to be done, and sometimes it's good to get an extra hand. Valdres Landbrukstjenester offers more than animal care. We know farming in Valdres and have skilled people who are happy to help, whether the need is small or large, short-term or long-term.
We can help with, among other things:
- clipping of cattle
- cleaning of barns and farm buildings
- soil work
- firewood work
- fencing work
- other practical tasks on the farm
We also work with experienced professionals in hoof trimming, sheep shearing and seasonal fieldwork. If you need one of these services, we help you find the right person for the job.
We help farmers find dairymaids for the mountain pasture (støl) season. The work begins already in March. Then we map the needs at the mountain farms and start finding people with the right experience and skills. Farmers who need a dairymaid should therefore get in touch as early as possible.
These are just a few examples of what we can contribute. Every farm and every situation is unique, and we take the time to listen to what you specifically need. Even if the task isn't on the list, we do our best to find a good and practical solution together with you. For us, it's about being close, available and reliable. We want to make everyday life a little easier for the farmer and be a safe partner when the need for qualified help arises.
You are always welcome to get in touch for a no-obligation chat. Tell us what you need help with, and we'll look together at how we can best assist you.
We are constantly developing our services according to the needs of farming. We are now working on getting an approved certifier in place who can inspect and certify silo hoists. From 2027 we also plan a practical course for dairymaids and dairymen, focusing on challenges that can arise when the herd is moved to the mountain pasture. When the offers are ready, we will publish more information about each of them as separate news items on the website.
